This coffee is sourced from the Rotheca Women’s Project, a project that brings together over 2,400 smallholder producers from Muyinga and Kirundo provinces processed at the Muramba and Butihinda washing stations. More than 80% of the farms that contribute are managed or owned by women. The washing stations are managed by Kahawa Link Company, a company that supports sustainable practices through agronomic training and sustainability programs for farming communities. They also have a focus on empowering women in the area and put this into action by providing scholarships for girls.
This coffee is grown at a high elevation, resulting in a delicate and flavourful cup. After processing, the coffee is sent off to Swiss Water Co. to be decaffeinated using their process that uses pure water, preserving the coffee’s natural flavour and organic certification.
