"The Indigenous Women of The Wabanaki Territories (IWWT) operate in unceded Wolostoqey/Mi’kmak’ki territory of the Wolostoqey/Mi’kmaq peoples. Indigenous Women of the Wabanaki Territories (IWWT), is a not-for-profit organization. Located at 152 Main Street, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
We represent Indigenous women of New Brunswick and it is our mission to provide healing and capacity building to Indigenous women, to promote and recognize their traditional leadership roles.
Indigenous Women of the Wabanaki Territories’ work is three-fold. We aim to heal the hearts and spirits of our women through spirituality and wellness programs, and aftercare. We empower our women with educational and workplace skills; and we work with organizations, communities, and both traditional and modern governments to recognize women’s central roles in guiding the development of the people and protection of the land.
Our membership extends much beyond Reserves, to the wider Mi’kmaq, Maliseet, and Passamaquoddy Territories. We strive to improve the quality of life for all indigenous women within our territories."
